About Leonardo da Vinci programme

The LEONARDO DA VINCI program

 

The Leonardo da Vinci program is a part of a new European Union education program called Lifelong Learning Program. It was initialized on 1 January 2007 and will be continued till the end of December 2013.

The aim of the program is to promote mobility of workers in the European job market and to implement innovative educational solutions in order to increase professional qualifications. It also supports solutions to increase comprihensibility and acknowledgement of professional qualifications in European countries (e.g. the EUROPASS tools). The supprort is also directed towards activities improving the quality of vocational and lifelong learning education (e.g. European and national EQF / NQF qualification frameworks or the European Quality Assurance Reference Framework – EQARF).

The Leonardo da Vinci program promotes innovative approach towards education and professional development in order to make the educational systems meet the needs of the professional market. The Leonardo da Vinci program also supports mobilities of workers in the European job market to allow workers and students to acquire new professional skills during placements and to increase their abilities according to modern standards. It is very important to create intercultural opennes and sensitivity. It is also important to develop foreign language skills and the ability to adapt to working and living conditions in different European countries.

The development of innovations and modernization of lifelong learning educational systems is realized within so called thematic projects. The support of mobilities in the European professional market is realized through the exchange and placement projects.

The projects provide the participants with possibility to establish international cooperation and to organize foreign placements, they also allow teachers, coaches and instructors to develop their methodological skills.
