Miners' Day with Italian students

During the last week of November, students from the partner school IPSIA Gaslini Meucci from Genoa paid a working visit within the Leonardo da Vinci “Building the common future” project. The most important part of the visit was the Miners' Day celebration and the school Standard presentation ceremony.

Four Italian students and their teacher, along with the whole school, accompanied by a Miner Orchestra, marched to a church. After the Holy Mass and the Standard blessing ceremony, our guests took part in the ceremony, during which students from first classes were officially accepted into the miner profession and given the work guarantee. The Standard was presented to the school by the president of the Coal Mining Company.

The students spent the next day at school. After an official meeting with the Principal of the school, we visited the school workshops and the miners training facility. There was time to work on the project and to get to know the devices built by our students.
Thursday was their last day in Poland. Our guests visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau museum where they learned about the sad history of that place.
On the departure day, it was time for a quick goodbye and, early in the morning, the Italian group went to the Katowice-Pyrzowice airport.
The next meeting within the Leonardo project will take place in Italy, in the last week of February.
